2006 Calendar

Thursday January 19, evening. Interfaith Dialogue: The Vedanta Center of Atlanta will co-sponsor the next Interfaith Dialogue of the
DeKalb Prevention Alliance. Five Faith Representatives will discuss their faith's approach to the injustices and indignities of society and how to address them. Place: Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur. Time: 6:00 p.m. for food, for program 6:30 9:00 pm.

Sunday March 26, 11 am. Guest speaker, Dr. James W. Fowler III: Dr. Fowler is Director of Emory's Center for Ethics in Public Policy and the Professions. His Ph.D. is from Harvard, and he is the author of several books, best known of which is Stages of Faith. We are most fortunate to have him.

Sunday April 30, 10 am - 4 pm. Day Retreat: The Center will hold a One-day Retreat, featuring audio and video tapes which you have not had an opportunity to hear or see. Lunch at 12:30 is pot-luck. Registration for this is free and limited to 25, on a first-come basis, so submit your request to our e-address as early as you can.

Sunday May 14, 10:30 am, Buddha Jayanti: Celebration of the Thrice-Blessed Day of the Buddha (Birthday, Enlightenment and Mahanirvana), with Brother Utsumi and Sister Denise of Nipponzan Myohoji (Japanese Peace Temple). Worship will be followed by pot luck prasad lunch.

Tuesday July 4, 12 noon. Independence Day Celebration.: We have a new meeting place this year, please contact Swami for directions.; 12 noon Pot luck picnic lunch.
1 p.m. Tributes to the Fourth: Swami Vivekananda, Ken Burns and Volunteer Work in India: a Slide Presentation.
2 p.m. Two half-hour videotapes.

Thursday July 27, 8 pm Guest Speaker: Swami Adhyatmanandaji is a noted Yoga teacher in the Divine Life Society tradition, working independently in Ahmedabad. He is on tour in the West.

Sunday July 30, 11 am Guest Speaker: The Reverend Robert Dunbar is a very old friend of Vedanta. He has spoken on many special occasions at our Vedanta Societies. He has served in Episcopal parishes in Rock Hill, S.C.

Thursday Sep 21, 8 pm Guest Speaker: Swami Yuktatmananda, of the Vedanta Center of St. Petersburg, FL. The Swami has just arrived from India as Head of the newly affiliated center. We will give him a reception and get acquainted.

Sunday Oct 8, 11 am, Guest Speaker: Swami Atmajnanananda, resident minister of the Vedanta Society of Greater Washington D.C. will visit with us and give the Sunday morning discourse on Mother Worship.

Monday Dec 25, 11 am, Christmas video: JeSus is the name of the folk-opera to be shown on Christmas morning, a beautiful drama by Peter Schneidre acted and sung by devotees at the Hollywood Center.
