SPECIAL EVENTS

 

Sunday Jan 13, 11 am. Annual General Meeting
Members of the Center are highly encouraged to attend if they are able. Friends are also welcome to come. We will discuss the past year and the year to come and elect members fo the Board of Directors. The Center will provide lunch following the meeting.
  
   
Saturday Jan 26, 7 pm. Benefit Concert  PDF poster
We will present a Carnatic Violin Duet Recital Concert to benefit the Vedanta Center of Atlanta Building Fund. Karthik Balachandran and Ramesh Panchaganula will perform on violin, accompanied on the Mridangam bySantosh Chandru and on the Kanjira by Krishna Sarangapani. Suggested donation is $10.
Sunday Feb 10, 11 am. Guest Speaker Dr. Susan Henry-Crowe
Learning and Transformation through Interfaith Relationship, by Dr. Susan Henry-Crowe, Dean of the Chapel at Emory University.
   
   
Sunday Feb 24, 10 am. Intown Day Retreat
This will be a very special day, here in the Chapel, its theme: THE LOVE OF GOD. We will examine and discuss light from the East; after a lunch break, light from the West. There will be two periods of meditation, and we will close at 4 p.m. Please bring your own packed lunch. Drinks will be provided. There is no fee and no registration, but the day's program is to be taken as a whole: you are asked not to come late or to leave early.

   

Sunday May 18, 10:30 am. Buddha Jayanti Celebration
Michael Elliston, Leader of the Atlanta Soto Zen Center, will be our guest for Buddha’s Birthday, and will give a homily (brief talk) on the life and teachings of Gautama Buddha. We will have formal worship followed by guest's message and prasad poluck lunch.
       
Saturday June 21, 5:30 pm. Indian Music and Dance
With Indrani Ganguly (Sangeet Bharati), Kakali Bandyopadhyay, Reneeta Basu and students (Academy of Kuchipudi Dance), Amitava Sen and Sangeetkar group.

To benefit our Building Fund, suggested donation $15.

Friday to Sunday Sep 26-28. Annual Retreat
Registration is now open ($20 deposit) for the Annual Retreat in the north Georgia mountains. Swami Shantarupananda, Head of the Vedanta Society of Portland, OR, has agreed to conduct the Retreat this year. The theme is Yoga and Meditation.

May 04 Swami Vivekananda on the Yoga of Work. Talk followed by discussion.
May 11 Buddha, the Perfect Renouncer. Talk followed by discussion.
May 18 10:30 am Buddha Jayanti, celebrates birth, enlightenment and paranirvana of the Buddha. Formal worship followed by guest's message and prasad poluck lunch. (See Special Events above).
May 25 China Under the Spiritual Lens. Talk followed by discussion.
